.pl Domain: Poland ccTLD Guide
.pl is the country-code top-level domain for Poland.
Overview
Polish businesses, organisations and individuals use it as the main local domain, and it is also widely registered by overseas companies targeting Poland.
The .pl domain was introduced on 30 July 1990. It is administered by NASK, the Polish research and development organisation, whose registry website is dns.pl. Every domain must be recorded in the National Domain Name Registry, and DNSSEC is supported.
Names can be registered directly at the second level, for example example.pl, or beneath functional labels such as .com.pl, .biz.pl, .org.pl for non-profits, .edu.pl for education and .gov.pl for government. The zone also includes 118 regional endings such as .warszawa.pl and .krakow.pl.
Labels may be 1 to 63 characters long and use letters, digits and hyphens, with no hyphen at the start or end. Internationalised domain names are supported, so Polish characters such as ą, ć, ł and ż can be used; they are stored in xn-- form in the DNS. Prefixes such as www, ftp and http are blocked.
Disputes involving Polish parties are heard by arbitration at the Polish Information Technology Society (PIIT), while foreign parties can use WIPO expedited arbitration. The registry held 2,569,407 domains on 1 December 2025.
Who can register
Individuals and businesses can register, whether based in Poland or abroad; registrars state that no local company or address is required. Registration goes through an accredited registrar, and NASK may refuse or suspend names that break its rules or the law.
Second-level endings: Also .com.pl, .net.pl, .org.pl and many regional endings like .waw.pl.
Rules and prices change. This summary is general information, not legal advice: confirm the current policy with the registry before you buy. The registry's website is www.dns.pl. The official record for .pl is in the IANA root zone database.
